Fawks and Christopher have been friends for five years, meeting at the Power House bar in SF and other Bay Area kink events. Since their introduction, Christopher admired Fawks' and the pack's devotion to hard work, creative thought, and strategic planning to add something more to the San Francisco music and kink scene- the Fog City Pack. Miami is internationally recognized for it's electronic music and parties. From Miami Music Week, to Ultra Music Festival, Art Basel and more, Miami has set a standard to the quality and immensity of productions it holds in the United States scene. However, Miami tends to focus on house, minimal, and EDM. Supporting Left field house and techno genres, not to mention ambient or drum and bass, can be challenging for promoters, clubs, and artists alike. Sound Coalitions would like to showcase Ray Nicholes, a Miami local techno talent, as an individual that is bringing a direct passion for techno to the Miami scene. Christopher Foor met Ray at an Assimilate gig at Treehouse Nightclub in Miami in the autumn. Hedda Stenberg is a full time DJ joining Sound Coalitions from Stockholm, Sweden. Hedda’s music comes to us simply from exploring SoundCloud and being curious about her profile. Once we took a listen to her mixes, our focus quickly noted the suave mixing, excellent track choice, and story telling quality that embodies her work on every set. We decided to reach out and learn more about the artist, and this is where Hedda’s kindness and tenacity to bring more women into the DJ scene became apparent. Over the last few years, Hedda has been part of PM Sessions, a Stockholm female collective that organized quality parties and promoted women into the DJ scene. She held a residency at club F12 in Stockholm where she assisted Aftermath Management with bookings and curating artists from across the city. Hedda is also a regular at the world renown Kvarteret where she has played alongside artists like DJ Tennis, Omar S., B. Traits, and DJ Seinfeld. Starting off 2019, we take a spotlight on New York City's DJ PlayPlay. PlayPlay initially reached out to us for an opportunity to do a guest mix; our first listen to their productions and mixes ended with an immediate "Yes, absolutely feature this work". Mixes and productions featuring samples of known work intermixed with genre bending beats gave hint towards a deeper drive in PlayPlay's music. The real delicacy of an artist's drive like that of PlayPlay's comes from the diverse angles to which they approach understanding music: academia and teaching of the art of DJing, research in oppressed communities and dance music, activism and expansion of female and gender non-conforming artists, an expansive multi-genre understanding of music, and residency at Queen's Flux Factory where these factors are utilized to instill an informed approach to their mixes. Daria Lourd (aka Bored Lord) is a Memphis born multidisciplinary and versatile artist. Daria formed roots in electronic music with production, notably her latest release on Knightwerk records. Her DJing skill was defined when she joined forces with the underground rave community in Oakland, California. With a recent relocation to Los Angeles, Daria has been churning out club ready and euphoric tracks on her personal Bandcamp as well as contributing remixes for other artists and labels. For Daria's guest mix on Sound Coalitions, her intention for the mix was "... trying to channel a struggle between euphoria and anger through a rave ready medium. I want it to be something you can put on while get ready to go to the club or drive around while high with your friends. Having recently moved from California to Florida, Christopher Foor decided to note some music in this transitionary chapter of life. Christopher Foor met Stacy after dancing to her set at downtown Los Angeles' Summer Tramp Pride Party. Her sound, influenced from 80's New Wave and 90's Club, created a party vibe that made leaving the dance floor all but impossible. After delivering a well-deserved compliment to Stacy, Christopher realized Stacy was not only a talented DJ, but an approachable, kind, and down-to-earth artist who remained truly engaged and inspired by electronic music. Stacy is involved with various parties and collectives in the Los Angeles area including Critter Control Collective which throws the Bears in Space and CubScout parties, No Nonsense LA, and Miss Mgt. For Episode 19 of Sound Coalitions we head to the Bay Area for DJ Dreamcast (Jesse James Alexander). Alexander is a Bay Area local and current Oakland resident. With releases on Knightwerk Records in the works, he's also the creator and resident DJ of Club Shevil, a midweek drag rave held Wednesdays at Powerhouse Bar in San Francisco. DJ Dreamcast has played club parties and undergrounds around the United States, collaborating with Newbody Music and Gus Gus. He aims to present a Queer vision of the future by combining everything from breaks and acid to jersey club and more kinetic soundscapes. Christopher Foor's set recorded from Rec Room Electronic's takeover at Lookout Bar in San Francisco. Christopher Foor started Rec Room Electronic with business partner Lonni Punani. Their intention to bring quality house, techno, minimal, and disco is felt by the fun and inclusive environment each party creates. They're proud to focus on booking LGBTQ, female, people of color, and/or artists with disabilities for their events. For Chris' Lookout take over, he pulled heavily from Baroque Records and utilized progressive/trance tracks intermixed with techno and house to create waves of energy that turned this gay bar up*. Keep an eye out for future Rec Room Electronic events in San Francisco and Miami.

Kora Noir hails from Miami and is a part of the reputable Speakerbox DJ Collective. We first became acquainted with Speakerbox at the Castaway party on a small island in Miami's Biscayne Bay: imagine mangrove trees, speedboats docked on the beach, banging house music, and people partying wherever they could dance. We've been following their sounds since and have been consistently impressed with the suave, sexy grooves. Kora's vinyl sets are a standout. She has played at clubs all over the United States, including Brooklyn's Output and Miami's Treehouse. She's also a member of the New York based FM Elle.
