  • The Buddha’s Renunciation

    20/03/2021 Duração: 14min

In this videoconference talk from 19 March, 2021, Ajahn Anan discusses the parami of Nekkhamma, renunciation. "In the Buddhist Mahayana tradition, 20th March 2021 is the anniversary of when the Buddha practised Nekkhamma parami, the spiritual perfection of renunciation. So we can reflect on the Bodhisattva who was born as the son of the great King Suddhodana, and who had the parami to rule over the four directions as a wheel-turning monarch. However, he saw that no matter how much power and virtue he had like this, it would not lead to freedom from old age, sickness and death. He must still part from loved ones and loved things. So he renounced everything in order to realise the truth, and spread the Dhamma until it reached us."

  • How Suffering Can Save Us

    28/02/2021 Duração: 27min

It can take time though, and we may get lost in worldly delights for a while. But if we stick with it, we'll make it. • Magha Puja 2021

    26/02/2021 Duração: 18min

A talk on the occasion of Magha Puja (February 26, 2021) by Venerable Ajahn Anan Akincano. "Whether lying down or sitting in a quiet place, one must put down all sense stimulation. Be determined to train one's mind, to make one's mind peaceful, and to be concentrated in samadhi. Make the mind greater than the ordinary level that already possesses goodness, such as giving alms and keeping the moral precepts. But the thinking still doesn't stop, so we then train the mind to be concentrated in samadhi. Then we will see the enormous value of the teachings of the Lord Buddha. This is the principle of Dhamma practice and of developing the mind (bhavana). However you practice, may you all, the monks and laity, see the Dhamma in this life."
