Commentaries are a good way to understand certain passages of Scripture. They will microscope down into a verse and plow through a chapter one phrase at a time in order to give a good explanation of what the author wrote. But there is another way to read the Bible that is macroscopic. It is called Biblical Theology. The Tabernacle is packed with potential typological gold. Now digging out gold is hard work. It is always at the bottom of the river in cold water and surrounded by rocks. Sometimes digging out the gold from Scripture is a the same challenge.
