105 Aline Bekerejian. A look behind the curtain of a notary's life
04/01/2020 Duração: 17minhttp://www.alainguillot.com/aline-bekerejian/ Aline Bekerejian is a notary in Montreal. She was referred to me by my friend Jamie Benizri. I needed a new notary because I was selling a property and the last time I used a notary, I felt that the service was not that great. Luckily, I was very happy with the service I got from Aline, so happy that I decided to interview her. Aline wanted to work in the legal field since she was very young. In particular, she was always trying to be a defender of people whenever she saw injustice around her. She went to law school. In Quebec, notaries have to go to law school, and in fact, their education is no different than the education of an attorney. While going to law school Aline noticed that she was not attached to any branch of law. However, when she discovered notary, she knew that's what she wanted to do. Aline engages in all aspects of notary work. Her service includes real estate transactions, estate and protection of asses, marriage contracts, incorporation, and ge

Jennifer is a member of the LGBTQ community which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. She has been out for 25 years. For many years she was not bringing her full personality to work. She didn't want to disclose that she was a lesbian because of fear of being rejected or even losing her job. Her case was not unique. She finds that in one way or another, all of us are not bringing our full personalities to work for the same fears and insecurities that she had. Having inclusion and diversity is crucial for the survival of today's businesses. Talent comes for all groups, and clie

24/12/2019 Duração: 30minhttp://www.alainguillot.com/bobbi-bidochka/ Bobby Bidochka is a woman on the move. Over her life she has had over 40 different jobs in different industries, she has lived in eight different cities, and moves without any effort from business to technology, to networking. As if her mind is not occupied enough, she is set to write a book about Sex and Business. The #Metoo movement has gone too far She was triggered by the second-order consequences initiated by the #MeToo movement to write a book about sex and business. In this book, Bobby covers topics such as gender, feminism, women's issues, in-fighting within feminism, the aftereffects of the #Metoo movement, mentorship, identity, etc. Yes, the #Metoo movement has brought justice to women who have suffered sexual harassment and sexual assaults and the perpetrators need to be brought to justice. But there are many situations which are in a gray zone, in a zone where there is sexuality involved, but it's not harassment nor assaults and it's not an undesirable a

101 Dr. Sophie Bostock, The SLEEP SCIENTIST
12/12/2019 Duração: 38minFor the last decade, we have seen an explosion of interest in sleep. Scientists have found that sleep is crucial, and most of us aren't getting enough. In today's 24/7 society, natural sleep patterns are under threat. Many of us don't realize that our daily routines interfere with our natural sleeping patterns, and this to a great detriment to our health, happiness, and productivity. On the other hand, if we can optimize our sleeping patterns, we can improve our performance, health, and wellbeing. Dr. Sophie Bostock, as a scientist and founder of The Sleep Scientist, aims to make the latest sleep science more accessible. When she is not sleeping, eating, climbing, swimming or windsurfing, she is giving talks at Tedx and Talks@Google, and many other corporations or government agencies. What happens when we sleep? There are four stages of sleep: Non-REM (NREM) sleep (Stages 1, 2 & 3) and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. Periods of wakefulness occur before and intermittently throughout the various sleep

100 Celebration of 100 episodes with Elaheh Bos and Terrie Schauer
08/12/2019 Duração: 34minhttp://www.alainguillot.com/celebration-of-100-episodes/ My podcasting journey I started podcasting in January of 2018, almost 2 years now. I started without knowing what to do and how to do it. I have learned a lot, but the biggest lesson is that I still have much more to learn. The two major things I have learned has been to build relationships and to become a better communicator. The main drawback of podcasting is that it takes a lot of time. To be honest, I think about podcasting almost every day and each episode takes me about 12 hours to produce, from the initial email I send to the person I want to interview, to finally hitting the "publish" button and sharing it in social media. The celebration I find that often in life, we accomplish big milestones in our lives, and because we don't do anything to highlight those milestones, they are simply forgotten, put away in the mixture of other regular days in our lives. And because we don't do anything to highlights those special moments, they are often forgot
