Sia has been around a lot longer than most might realize, getting her start in the late 90s and quickly realizing that being on stage caused some real anxiety. Soon she would fall down the path of drugs and alcohol, yet still be one of the hardest working and most creative musicians in the pop world. Known for her powerful vocals in the group the Mamas and the Papas, Mama Cass is one of the overlooked women in rock. In fact, don't call her mama, she didn't like it. We tell her tale, how she used her sharp wit and charisma to get her foot into the door of the music world, despite it wanting nothing to do with a fat woman. We rage over har unfair treatment and sympathize with her many efforts to lose weight and fit into a society that didn't deserve her. But at the end of it all, she needs to be heralded or her amazing voice and the contributions she could've given if only she were still around today. Since the 1970's this woman has been wowing the people with her amazing voice and charisma. Chaka Khan helped to bring women of color to the forefront of rock, funk, R&B, you name it, she can do it all. But it wasn't a straightforward path from her childhood that led her to music. It was a rebellious adolescence, the civil rights movement, second wave feminism, countless missteps with drugs and alcohol, and her sense of adventure that has made her the woman she is today. From her time with Rufus to her solo career, she has never let anyone dictate how she will live her life or what music she is to create. All of which has made her the bad ass she is today. We're wrapping up our Beatlestravaganza with the later years of Mr. John Lennon. We really rip open the onion that is this complicated human and discuss how to truly separate the artist from the art. We also realize that each Beatle tells the same story, but completely differently and talk about how being a rad dad reflects poorly on the kids. But his journey was a real personal struggle, and his music makes that plain to see. Trent worked hard on his craft to the point where it became all consuming. He saw the apathy and despair in the world and found it brought him down as well, and music would become his primary outlet for these feelings.
