Samoa Joe is a bona fide legend within the lore of Ring of Honor, if not the modern wrestling landscape as a whole. To this day, over fifteen years since his lone World Championship run ended, Joe still stands as the longest reigning champion in ROH’s history at 645 days. Nigel McGuinness is the only man remotely close with a single run, and even that falls 100 days shy of Joe’s tenure at the top.To this day, Samoa Joe (officially) holds the number two spot on the amount of championship defenses with 30 under his belt; McGuinness and Bryan Danielson are officially tied with 38 in the top spot, although there is one title match in Nigel’s Cagematch history that ROH either never recognized or never knew existed.Joe established himself with legendary, historic bouts against CM Punk, Kenta Kobashi, Homicide, and the Briscoes to name a few.
