Yellow jacket movement
15/12/2018 Duração: 06minYellow jacket movement is a protest movement that started online in May 2018 and led to demonstrations that began in France on November 17 2018. Motivated by rising fuel prices, the high cost of living and claims that a disproportionate burden of the government's tax reforms were falling on the working and middle classes, especially in rural and peri-urban areas, protesters have called for reductions in fuel taxes, the reintroduction of the solidarity tax on wealth, the raising of the minimum wage, and the resignation of Emmanuel Macron as President of France. "Yellow vest" protests have gripped France for six weeks, blocking highways from Provence to Normandy and erupting in rioting in Paris. They've shaken the country to its core and left President Emmanuel Macron struggling to retain control. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/AFDD/support

Slavery a 21st century evil
09/12/2018 Duração: 11minThis is an age where human liberty, sovereignty and dignity are under siege. This is our most defining moment. Human authority has been subverted and taken from us since the beginning of recorded human history. Now is a most vital time in history and either we fight for what is rightfully ours or we cease to continue existing under the guise of being a free people. The forces against us are small but a powerful factor that weighs heavily on our side, the fact that most of their power is derived from convincing a few people to do their bidding and this enforces a source of authority that does not come from us but has been used to enslave us to it. It is a scene reminiscent of the allegorical and dystopian novella Animal Farm by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945. Let us not become that complacent, docile or foolish. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/AFDD/support

What the statue of Westminster really did for the dominions. Ray Ricard
05/12/2018 Duração: 13minIt has been a long-held belief that the Statute of Westminster 1931 gave sovereignty to the provinces of Canada as well as other dominions so that they could form their own sovereign federal union. A careful examination of the documentation used as well as a basic understanding of "legalese" will dispel any such notion. Thank you, Ray Ricard, for providing the info for this video. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/AFDD/support

Money in politics
03/12/2018 Duração: 07minWhen most people think of money in politics, the misnomer "citizen's united" comes to mind. Though true that Citizens United blew the lid off restrictions to campaign finance, the story of money in politics has been affecting us for a long time. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/AFDD/support

The rigged economy
01/12/2018 Duração: 11minAmericans are working longer and harder, but they cannot get ahead in an economy that is rigged to work for big corporations and billionaires. Mammoth companies have a chokehold on the economy, trampling on small businesses, controlling employees, and preventing innovation and economic freedom. What’s worse, these companies compound their economic power by exercising their outsize political influence, generating laws that help them pad their profits and squeeze their employees. Meanwhile, millions of hard-working Americans are left wondering why they can’t seem to get a shot at economic security. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/AFDD/support
