They build websites, run experiments and help their clients with Facebook ads, and do other cool projects as well. When I first started blogging back in 2011, building an email list seemed like the Holy Grail. I remember one author specifically saying that once you hit 10,000 email subscribers, that's when publishers start knocking on your door for book deals.
