Led Zeppelin - "No Quarter" (Guitar Rendition)
14/08/2018 Duração: 01minOne of the most underrated Zeppelin songs ever. Tool's version of it is killer as well. The riff is so mystical and BEAUTIFUL. Zeppelin does it on organ/keys - here it is on reverbic clean guitar. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #43 - "Valhalla Wander"
13/08/2018 Duração: 03minMan this one's from the summer of 2011. I was definitely going for that acoustic, nature, sort of dreamy, heavenly vibe. This has got to be the easiest song ever to play on guitar! I like this one a lot, it's real personal to me. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #42 - "Armory"
10/08/2018 Duração: 04minSomeone make a video game - this will be the theme music :) I wrote this one in April 2018, just improvised it with my ditto looper. It came to life with some drums! I like the moment it breaks down and gets a bit symphonic, but i'm not crazy about it kicking back in so abruptly. I probably won't keep it like that! The motif's gotta be used somewhere, though. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #41 - "Burn I'm Feeling"
08/08/2018 Duração: 05minWhat a strange psychedelic folk song! I tried to stay close to the original recording of it from 2009 with the vox effect. It was great bringing it to life with more instruments. The drums did a lot to it, as did the harmony vox. What do you think about this one? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #40 - "Pink Lectro Wood"
06/08/2018 Duração: 03minThis one's instrumental for now, but it could lead to some vocals. As for the title, I usually just write down the first phrase that comes to mind right when I record something. Not sure what I was thinking back in 2010 but it works for me! I love keeping the working titles. Enjoy this acoustic nature jam! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Glass Onion (March 24, 1969)
04/08/2018 Duração: 01minOn March 24, 1969 - Salvador Dali & John Lennon met for the first time in Paris. Two ridiculous art worlds clashing. I wonder what the hell they talked about! Lennon is my favorite artist, and Salvador Dali is favorite painter (besides Erica Baptiste). Here's a short cover of Glass Onion to honor these 2 heroes. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #39 - "Headspace"
03/08/2018 Duração: 04minThis riff/idea was written back in 2013. I've always liked this one! There's a strange contrast between the (bit Black Sabbath-ish) riff and the verses. And no, I don't actually want that Picardy Third at the end there, still trying to come up with a 2nd half to this piece! Though I like how it'll modulate to D. Let me know your thoughts! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

"I Can See The Lens"
02/08/2018 Duração: 01minI can see my friends Wading in the middle Hanging by the bend Hanging by a thread Yes, I can see my friends With the air comes loneliness to me To no end but I can see the lens oh well In a way, I'm pleased to leave just for some time --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #38 - "Tunnel"
01/08/2018 Duração: 05minMan, this one's nuts. I like the different ideas floating around, particularly the main riff and the mini guitar solo when everything stops. Lyrics need some revisiting, but I've always had that weird melody in my head. What else could you see happening here? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #37 - "Wall Marauder"
30/07/2018 Duração: 04minThis one's from 2012. I'm thinking ACOUSTIC Rammstein, nah mean? I'm not sure if the riff needed electric guitar, but maybe a 12 string or some other texture to accompany it. I like how it kicks bass, but yeah this idea needs to go somewhere. It's like acoustic industrial, if that makes any sense. DU HAST. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

"True Love On A Mental Plane"
28/07/2018 Duração: 01minAn original that was conceived back in 2011. Nice and personal, sinking into love :) It's sound to think you're now bound It's out, spread out for you to know It's love, true love on a mental plane We found a way to perceive the mirage Parked right upon it --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #36 - "Cadabra Pearls"
25/07/2018 Duração: 04minAnother oldie - love the title, it fits the music well. It's in 10/4 - sort of doesn't feel like it though. This is one of my favorite basslines I've written! I love how it dances around the drum groove and guitar riff. Can you hear any other instruments being playing over this? Well, besides a phone alarm. Groove = the dancing space between the instruments --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #35 - "A Part Of Me Rumbles"
23/07/2018 Duração: 05minAnother super oldie, circa 2010. It all started with a phone recording at the piano rooms at UMass Amherst. I had this weird vocal idea ("slipping the venom inside the rose...etc") that never made too much sense. But reviving it with some more arrangement, and slightly altering the lyrics totally brought it to life! Needs to head somewhere though. Thoughts? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

Riff Talk #34 - "Champagne Dizza"
18/07/2018 Duração: 05minSuch an old song! Man, Champagne Dizza dates back to sophomore year in college, so around 2010. I've always liked this one and it was awesome to revive it. I think it works just fine with no drums - not even percussion I don't think. Still trying to work out the words, but there's some potential here! Let me know your thoughts. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support
