Sinopse
Diving into the lives of "everyday" people, their real life experiences. Learn from their challenges, goals, failures, ability to overcome obstacles and how they grind through life and carve their own path. This podcast is not all about martial arts, even though we will speak with many, it is however designed to compare the martial arts journey with lifes journey. Black Belts dont know everything. They still have to fail, learn, grow and constantly set new goals. Each new beginning and goal is like putting your white belt back on. The same is true for life. You start something new not knowing anything (white belt) and you slowly gain skills and experience belt by belt until you have a solid foundation (Black Belt). Like life however, the journey continues. If our guests are known for something specific, we will discuss it but we also want to know who they are in their every day roles. As a parent, a child, a worker, a leader, a friend and a member of the community. I use my lifetime dedication as a martial artist I and 20+ years experience of martial arts instruction to help navigate and lead the conversation in a fun, respectful and meaningful way. Celebrities are not the only interesting and impactful stories to focus on. In everyday life there are those who stand out amongst the crowd. They have succeeded in business, with their marriage, with their health, as a parent, as a citizen and much more. Whats their story? What is their Black Belt skill? These stories are real, from relatable people just like who. Be inspired, be entertained and become a loyal listener. Maybe your story will be next. My name is Eric Alders. I'm a 6th Degree Black Belt Master and 4th Degree Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Professor Bill Scott. I am the proud owner of The Karate Dojo MMA & BJJ located in Jackson, NJ (www.tkdojo.com). I hope you enjoy this new journey Im beginning (as a white belt in podcasting) and I hope you enjoy the show. Share with your family and friends and dont forget to leave us a 5 star rating in iTunes. He discusses getting more involved with graphic design which eventually led him to running an international surf, skate and snowboarding magazine. He overcame that company closing and ended up getting involved with a Band, Barry and the Penetrators which also became a successful band with 3 Albums, radio play and national recognition. We cover how he's been able to maintain a loving marriage and from his love he met in college, raising teenage girls and much more. Episode #2 - Paul Alders
17/04/2018 Duração: 01h07minI sit down for my first full-length interview with my Father, Paul Alders. We discuss growing up in Brooklyn in the 50's and 60's. He discusses what it was like being raised by a strict tough father, how navigating the city with his friends helped to build his character and how he avoided major trouble that some of his friends got into. From there we cover how he went from hard labor, to putting himself through college at night, a variety of jobs he had and eventually how he got into the sales business. That decision led him down a path of running a multi-million dollar sales repping agency for almost 30 years. We discuss how some of his life experiences helped him become the man, father and grandfather he is today. How he was able to raise two loving sons (I'm one of them lol) and helped them to both become successful business owners. We discuss how martial arts came into the mix which heavily influenced me and much more. We really need to do a follow up episode but I thought there's no b

Episode #1 - Introduction to Life's Black Belts
12/04/2018 Duração: 18minIn this intro episode Eric discusses what the idea is for the Podcast "Life's Black Belts." Guests chosen to interview won't all be in the marital arts but rather how we view them as Black Belt's in life. That doesn't mean perfection just like in martial arts. The path to Black Belt has a beginning, lot's of challenges and adversity and the need to constantly learn and grow. To overcome failure and stay focused on your goal. Then when the goal is reached you need to continue your growth, there is no perfection. Just like in life. Celebrities are not the only people with interesting and inspiring stories. We want to highlight these everyday heroes. How have they overcome their challenges. What do they still struggle with. What are they proficient in. How they have created a successful business, marriage and more. The hope is to show how all of us have amazing stories that we can find inspiration in. Maybe it will help you to put your phone down and talk the the stranger acros
