This four-week series focuses on the importance of believers’ identity in Christ. The propensity to place our identity in other fleeting places affects our own spiritual growth, and our relationships with others. Self-examination and reflection on our desires will ultimately reveal what type of “selfie” we are revealing to ourselves and the world.

We conclude our four week series today, We are the Church! Romans 10:14 says that the Good News must be shared or proclaimed, but you don't have to be a full time evangelist or preacher to do this...

Today we look at Luke 19:1-10  Zacchaeus needed a tree to see Jesus. How can our church be like that tree?

We are at the end of our series in the book of Jonah. We have been reading and teaching how God’s Word, comes to Jonah, a prophet. It’s his job to speak God’s word. Jonah says "NO." God feels this assignment is too important to let go. Why does he want Nineveh to repent? Because God loves people! Today we learn the point of this book is "it's all about Nineveh" listen to find out what that means. 

The Book of Jonah says “From inside the fish, Jonah PRAYED!" God said, “I got your attention.”   “He said: “In my distress”.  “I called on the Lord, and He answered me.”  Question: Can you even start to grasp what it means to us that we have the ability to call on the God of the universe, the Creator and the Sustainer, the One who spoke and hung the stars in the sky, who created the heavens and the earth and all the galaxies that exist, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, the Supreme Judge, the Holy One, the One who is all knowing and ever present and all powerful... YES, that God? Today we talk about the Privilege of Prayer. 

I am sure everyone has heard of Jonah and the whale – although the Bible says nothing about a “whale” at all – it does say a large fish. What is interesting about the book of Jonah is most books in the Bible by prophets are about what God says through the prophet or words of the prophet or prophecy, this book is about the Prophet. His story. I think as we look at Jonah's life, we will see that there is some Jonah in all of us.

We are going to finish up this series on Elijah today, really, this is just the beginning – You can read in 1 Kings 17-19 about his life. Elijah saw some incredible things that God did. But he also dealt with a time of depression, and doubt. Isn't it interesting that we can see God do amazing things for us but still have times of doubt and discouragement? Let's talk about this... 

As we look again today at 1 Kings 18:42, and into the life of Elijah, we learn that he understood prayer. He came before God with boldness and with confidence, if we look into this account, I think we can learn  Four Principles of Effective Prayer.  

What are going to see today in this passage in 1 Kings 18 is this question: Do you waiver back and forth or do you fully, wholeheartedly live a life connected to God? The Bible teaches that God wants all of our hearts, something that is so important to Him. In fact, He makes this the first of the ten commandments – Number one! “You will have no other gods before me” And when Jesus was asked, what was the most important commandment? – he said the same, “Love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength, and your neighbor as yourself”

We are starting a new series today. Sometimes when we do series it will deal with Life Application and on a particular topic like Grace or Church conflict. Sometimes we do a book series where we just study a book in the Bible, Romans or Ephesians. This series we are going to look at a Man. Elijah. One of the premier prophets in the Old Testaments. When Jesus was on earth, he was visited and given support on the mount of transfiguration he was visited by Moses and Elijah. Arguably one of the greatest men of God recorded in all of scripture. Elijah

In the face of sorrow or discouragement I can depend upon the Holy Spirit to minister comfort to me; and once comforted I can also expect that the Lord will allow me a future opportunity to minister the same comfort to someone else that I received from Him. Concisely paraphrased the truth of this passage might be expressed…. Comforted to Comfort Others Blessed to be a Blessing Encouraged to Be an Encourager And for our purposes today in this moment God has brought us together… Given Hope to Give Hope
