Wendy Mitchell was diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia in 2014 at the age of 58. At the time she worked for Britain’s National Health Service as a non-clinical team leader. Her diagnosis led to an early retirement. One of the best ways that an older adult can feel safer in (and out of) the their homes is to wear a medical alert system. These small, yet reassuring devices, are indispensable. Learn how these Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) can add years of independent living for you or a loved one. These PERS systems of often used by those who have chronic health issues, such as Heart Disease, Strokes, Respiratory Disease, Cancer, and/or Diabetes. These conditions would warrant medical attention in a timely fashion. Additionally, they may be living alone, recently widowed, or their children are concerned about their safety and well-being. Statistically, a medical alert type system can enable people to stay in their homes longer, because they don’t become the statistic of someone who has an event and cannot get help for hours … or days.
