This book deals with Covid-19, which you may or may not have the emotional capacity to read about right now. We totally understand if you could not join us for this book club. Wish You Were Here follows Diana, a type-a art specialist who has her entire life planned out. She has been planning her dream trip to the Galapagos with her surgeon boyfriend. In March 2020, on the eve of their trip, New York City is bracing for the arrival of coronavirus. Her boyfriend can’t take off work but encourages Diana to go alone. Except, when she gets there, she finds out that the island is closing for a 2-week quarantine. Diana makes an impulsive decision to stay, and her time on the island has her reevaluating her whole life back in New York. The Magic of Found Objects Book Club

The story follows Phronsie, who was conceived at Woodstock by a free-spirited hippie mother and a practical farmer father. All her life she’s been torn between the two. After trying her hand at the NYC dating scene, her childhood best friend proposes that they give up on romance and marry each other. After Phronsie agrees, she meets someone who makes a case for revisiting romance. While her stepmother argues for the safety of the engagement, her birth mother relays messages from the universe to hold out for true love, and Phronsie must look to her own heart to find the answers.
