The Apostle Paul looked forward to dying, not because he was suffering and wanted to have the misery end; not because he hated this life on earth, and not because he had a morbid fascination with death. Paul wanted to die, because Paul wanted to experience the ultimate reality of the New Life that Jesus Christ had already begun in him. But before he died, Paul wanted to fully live and his letter to the Corinthians was a treatise on Triumphant Christian LIVING! God wants us to fully live life to the greatest degree possible. And he makes this a reality through the power of the Holy Spirit who gives us the passion to be fresh and renewed in Jesus Christ. Today, we will see how Paul saw beyond this life to the promised eternal home of God, and therefore he could fully embrace this present life in hope, faith, and service to the Lord.
