Don't Drink the Water w/ Anthony Gesa (Gatherers)
27/06/2018 Duração: 36minAnthony Gesa plays guitar in Gatherers, one of the best current bands in the oddly specific screamo/post-rock/post-hardcore milieu. He also works with the record label and management firm Party Smasher Inc. and spent the better part of two years on the road with The Dillinger Escape Plan as they traveled the world on their farewell tour. We talked about how love interests can guide our musical decision making for better or worse, the foolhardiness (or not?) of vocational training for the music business, and being warned not to walk around sightseeing in India. MUSIC FROM THE SHOW: Gatherers, "The Floorboards Are Breathing" Pastlives, "Sol Invictus" Ornaments, "Sick at Heart" View the whole Sellin' Out playlist on Spotify SUPPORT GATHERERS SUPPORT PARTY SMASHER Support the show Email: sellinoutpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @SellinOutAD Sellin' Out blog (including transcripts) Photo by Nick DiNatale Theme music: Such Gold, "No Cab Fare"

Big In Canada w/ Daniel Thomson (Sparrows)
20/06/2018 Duração: 39minDan Thompson sings and plays guitar in the post-hardcore band Sparrows, straight outta Ontario. Dan is Canadian but I don't hold that against him. He joined me at One Sellin' Out Plaza to provide a crucial international perspective, like how back home he and his wife could have a baby and not be in debt to a private hospital system for like 10 years but I think I cut that part out because being debt-free is extremely not punk. MUSIC FROM THE SHOW: Sparrows, "If We Make It Over the Mountain" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was) Sparrows, "Carrying On With A Modern Lifespan" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was) Sparrows, "Teething" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was) View the whole Sellin' Out playlist on Spotify SUPPORT SPARROWS Support the show Email: sellinoutpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @SellinOutAD Sellin' Out blog (including transcripts) Podcast photo by Nick DiNatale Theme music: Such Gold, "No Cab Fare"

13/06/2018 Duração: 42minMichael Pfohl is the brains behind the Tennessee-based emo band Secret Stuff, as well as a local promoter in Nashville and booking agent for other touring artists. He joined me in the studio (a.k.a. my living room a.k.a. One Sellin' Out Plaza) to discuss the legal nuances of hosting hundreds of punk shows at a place you rent, to encourage owning up to your lofty ambitions, and to convince me to invest in cryptocurrency (which I did and it has stressed me out ever since). MUSIC FROM THE SHOW: Secret Stuff, "Maybe You Love Me. Maybe You Floridon't" (from Learning Not to Care) Low Mass, "The Long Morrow" (from Sleepwalker) Secret Stuff, "Ew, You Taste Like Cigarettes" (from split w/ Sundressed) SUPPORT SECRET STUFF: secretstuffemo.bandcamp.com SUPPORT LOW MASS: lowmasstheband.bandcamp.com Support the show: patreon.com/sellinoutpodcast Email: sellinoutpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @SellinOutAD Podcast photo by Nick DiNatale (nickdinatale.com) Theme music: Such Gold, "No Cab Fare&qu

02/06/2018 Duração: 46minTim Williams was the vocalist, guitarist and primary creative force behind Our Lady, a now-defunct emo band from Springfield, IL that may not have been traditionally "big" but left a lasting impression wherever they went. Now Tim and his wife Molli own and operate Ritual Apparel, a clothing company and lifestyle brand for people involved in strength sports. We talk about the transition from putting your creative efforts toward a band to focusing on a brand.
