He called White Country Sheriff Steve Page to report his discovery and to confirm that it was Foster's car with two human remains found inside. The remains were later confirmed to be Foster and Bechtel.     In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles, Donnie interviews Ashley McCraw, daughter of Walter Vernon McCraw who was last seen by his parents on July 6, 2018 when they dropped him off at the Waffle House on 1808 E. Dixon Blvd. Shelby North Carolina. An officer found Vernon sleeping in the grass with his leg in the road just down the street at the McDonald’s at 206 E. Dixon Blvd. on July 11. The officer confirmed Vernon left the area on foot. Later that day, someone turned in Vernon’s ID that was found near the old police department on Lafayette Street. According to Lieutenant Jason Benfield of the Shelby Police Department, many people knew of him and would come to his aid when he needed it. “A lot of people would see Vernon and see him in diabetic distress and call an ambulance because they knew he had health issues,” said Benfield. James Renner is mostly known for his true-crime journalism. As a reporter for Cleveland Scene, he uncovered new clues and suspects in the cold-case murder of Amy Mihaljevic. His work led to the successful closure of the Tina Harmon case in 2009. He spent months researching the Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus abductions when the girls were still missing and is haunted by the fact that he had Castro’s name in his notes. His true crime writing has been featured in the Best American Crime Reporting anthology. His selection was the first true crime article to use a dream sequence as a narrative device. Renner has always been interested in filmmaking, as well.     In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles, Donnie and Dale discuss the shocking murder of Candace Hiltz. Candace was a seventeen year old single mother, a junior at Brigham Young University and a newly accepted student to be at Stanford Law School. She dreamed of becoming a Supreme Court Justice. The investigation was shoddy from the beginning: The crime scene wasn’t protected and sealed, evidence was left behind and the prime suspect was Candace’s brother, James. After he was apprehended, he was charged with for breaking into a home and stealing some items, but not the murder of his sister. Over the next ten years, no new leads were developed nor evidence discovered. The Hiltz family and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department engaged in a rather public exchange of contradictory statements.
