Overenthusiastic Underprepared

After a few weeks off, Alyssa and Annemarie are back in the recording studio (read: their bedrooms). This time the hosts are together in Indianapolis, fulfilling their lifelong, YA dreams of shooting some arrows from some bows at Sasquatch. While archery may not be their thing, they realize that all you need for a good time is your best friend, some slushies, and a 20-minute hunt in a giant field for a perfectly camouflaged (and potentially haunted, idk?) arrow.

Annemarie is still pretending to be Lizzie McGuire in Rome, so this week we're revisiting our very first. Safe to say we've learned a lot about podcasting since then. We talk about how we became friends, how we stayed friends despite living in different cities, and why we decided to start a podcast about trying new things.

Annemarie tries to calm her mind and find inner peace this week with a new type of meditation. The class is totally not a cult recruitment thing. For anyone who doesn't like Shakespeare, Alyssa's activity this week is for you. 

It’s summer. It’s hot. And the sun is out to get us all. Alyssa goes to the Singing Beach, avoids Casey Affleck, and gets beat up by the ocean. But she didn’t get a sunburn, so basically it’s a success. Annemarie also fights with some salt water as she attempts round two of the sensory deprivation tank. As you could probably imagine, it once again does not go as planned.

Annemarie gets a lot more than she signed up for when she goes to a Magic Mike-type show (but also a lot less than she signed up for, if you know what we mean). It takes about thirty seconds for Alyssa to decide aerial yoga is not for her, but there's still an hour of class left for her to suffer through.

Welcome to a special food edition of the podcast, where the criteria are made up and the points don’t matter. Alyssa and Annemarie take a listener’s suggestion to find the worst rated restaurant in their area and see if the food really lived up to the bad reviews or just got a bad rap. You could probably guess that Alyssa had brunch and watched sports (who doesn’t love a good Irish pub breakfast?). Annemarie took the challenge too far by ordering from 3 of the worst rated pizza joints in the area and awarded points, stars, and the coveted Golden Pizza Cutter.

Annemarie celebrates Pride with day drinking, learning about the history of Pride in Indianapolis, and a lot of glitter. Oh yeah, and Lizzo is there. Alyssa tries to get to the root of an important question: what exactly is a facial? But by the end of it, she still can’t answer the question.

Alyssa visits a marijuana dispensary, has some edibles, and feels a lot less badass (but probably more chill) than she thought she would.  Annemarie drags her mom to another strange wellness activity and struggles to suppress her laughter in a completely silent Salt Cave.

Annemarie realizes her true calling as a Disney princess by going to the zoo. Meanwhile, Alyssa indulges her more violent side and goes boxing, meaning she’s maybe more of a Disney villain.

This week, Alyssa spices up her life with some spontaneity by going to a Red Sox game unplanned (gasp!). She learns the shocking history behind the naming of the team and shares more of her classic facts. Annemarie bares her body, and possibly her soul, to a massage therapist and reiterates that she can always out-awkward any awkward situation.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for a special episode. Alyssa and Annemarie commemorate an incredibly small but still fun milestone and dive into a Q&A to find out our deepest secrets. Like, what objects we would pick for a summoning circle and which course of a meal we most identify with (you know, just your average get-to-know-you questions).

Science fiction becomes reality this week as the hosts find themselves at events exploring the fake past and very possibly real future. Alyssa winds up at a Steampunk festival and gives her nuts to an eleven year old (not that way, you sickos). Annemarie makes a fool of herself (what’s new) at a virtual reality arcade and gets one step closer to becoming a Jedi, basically.

Annemarie and Alyssa reunite in this week’s episode. They spend some time reminiscing about high school, because that’s obviously what people want to hear about. Then they attend the wedding of a friend from high school, take some shots in a bathroom stall, and explore a few haunted buildings.

Alyssa tries her luck at another first date and let’s just say she’s still single. Someone just take one for the team and date her so we can stop hearing about her bad first dates.  At least this one didn’t keep saying “giddy up!” Everybody has found themselves at a random casino at 1 AM before, right? Annemarie is choosing to think so after spending a girls’ weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio (spoiler alert: she’s drunk in this one, too).

This week, Annemarie channels her inner Tim Gunn and attends a Midwest Fashion Week runway show (is she an ~Influencer~ yet?).  After a night of dancing and drinking at Boston’s Soulelujah, Alyssa comes to the conclusion that not all heroes wear capes… some are doused in syrup.

Alyssa escapes the city this weekend to take moody walks, listen to music, and pretend she's in her own music video. Annemarie learns how to save money at a couponing class, sparking a fight about the correct pronunciation of the word coupon.

We have our first guest this week! Alyssa's teen sister visits and gives us some insight into the youths, really highlighting that we are not hip anymore (if we ever were). Annemarie rummages around a dead person's house and we contemplate who we want to haunt once we're dead.

Alyssa goes to a food festival with bad drinks, club bops, and some old ladies there to turn up, and she’s once again reminded that she cannot handle spicy food. At all. Did you guys know Annemarie likes Harry Potter? This week she goes to Wizards and Witches Beer Festival and maybe hallucinates Moaning Myrtle’s voice in the bathroom.

Annemarie is maybe still drunk but definitely hungover thanks to her activity this week: a bar crawl complete with a to-do list that includes a very hairy body shot and the worst drink you've ever heard of. Meanwhile, Alyssa goes full fake art hoe and once again disappoints all her teachers by using Wikipedia for research.

Why go to therapy when you could bake a loaf of bread and talk about your feelings on a podcast? Alyssa sees no issue with that. Meanwhile, Annemarie gets one step closer to becoming Leslie Knope by attending a festival centered around maple syrup. #JustIndianaThings
