His involvement in the climb would have endangered his own life and the lives of the other participants of the climb. He shares his thoughts and feelings and reads a section of a recent blog entitled ‘A Dead Lion’ where he is looking back on this trip, which he summarises with a famous Shackleton quote ‘better a live donkey than a dead lion’. In this episode an emotional Mark reveals that this expedition - for him - might be finished on medical grounds. During one of the standard training ascents Mark started to feel very unwell and the decisions was made to immediately head back to Basecamp to get medical assistance. Tests, some time on an oxygen tank and a few ECG’s later it was revealed that Mark has a serious chest infection and might not be able to continue on this ascent of Everest.
