Bob is a creative teacher originally from California, who shares experiences in teaching in various countries around the world. He’s passionate about infusing technology and interactive teaching strategies for all the students and teachers he works with. He shares his reflections on leaving turkey during the Covid epidemic, and the choice he had made to stay in Ethiopia when there was some social unrest as well as to stay in Japan after the tsunami in 2011. During his teaching career, he has faced challenges and had to make some chat decisions in regards to how we would continue interacting with students regardless of the situation that he was facing. He’s a passionate teacher who loves what he does.

The moment I was told that I need to leave Mauritius was a sad moment. I had to pack all my things in less than 24 hours which is something that English teachers who have worked a broad become used to doing. But the situation was different. The flights were dwindling and I had very few days if not ours left before I wouldn’t be able to possibly return back to the United States for a possible extended period of time. The program the English language fellowship has been canceled due to COVID 19 and I had to make a decision: Leave or stay? I decided to go home and this is my journey returning and reflecting on what had happened.

In this interview Eileen Finn, a fellow doing her second fellowship in India will share her experiences of adjusting to a new culture. Having taught for over 15 years ESL internationally and in the states, her specialty is in teaching business English. She shares her experiences teaching at the University, inspiring her students and being inspired by them every day. We also both share actions that we take in order to become more self aware in our path towards becoming more emotionally intelligent teachers.

As a fellow in Armenia, Anna shared her experiences working there for the past two months and what she is looking forward to work on. She’s creating an online newspaper with her students and is passionate about teaching writing skills to her students using social media and social communication. We also shared insights as I am actually Armenian origin, but working in Mauritius. We shared our perspectives on gender roles, emotional intelligence, learning new languages, dance as well as cultural similarities and differences.

Wendy was an English language fellow as well as a specialist. Having worked in Columbia, Tunisia and presently living in Mexico. She’s had wonderful experiences in Waldorf schools, in adult education and specifically specializes in working with children and training teacher trainers. You’ll be hearing about her experiences and really how inspiring she is. Having already written one forum article, having done a state department webinar and as well as being a talented and creative singer, you’ll hear some of her experiences.

In this interview, Shannon describes her life in Uzbekistan. It’s actually her second term teaching there. This year she’s predominately working with training teachers. She discusses the experiences she’s had from the previous year compared to this year challenges, as well as moments of triumph.
