His work has been recorded in many countries including the US, Canada, Ireland, Germany, and Australia (among others) by legends like Merle Haggard, Nashville powerhouse Randy Houser, Rob Snyder, Jason Charles Miller, Kevin Denny, and Australian-Canadian country singer, Gord Bamford, the only two-time winner of the CMA Global Country Artist of the Year award. He has toured coast to coast for several years in his early career and has shared the stage with Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Big & Rich, Lee Brice, Lady A, and many others.     Dan O'Brien is a playwright and poet with an uplifting story that is chronicled in a new collection of essays that has just debuted titled A STORY THAT HAPPENS. He is married to improvisational comedian Jessica St. Clair. The couple had their daughter and were thinking that with Dan’s book and plays and Jessica’s sitcoms and work, they were living out their dreams. That was until shortly after the birth of their daughter, Jessica was diagnosed with breast cancer. With her sitcom and new baby, she was in the fight for her life. It was a trying time and through it all, Dan was by her side. As Jessica rounded out her final treatment, Dan called to tell her that he was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer. It was a double whammy of fear and gearing up for another literal fight of their lives. Dan beat the odds and the two are still here to offer guidance to all of those who have kids and have to navigate fear, grief, positivity and work.     About 959 plays from 33 countries were submitted for the yearly Italian competition known as the Carlo Annoni Playwriting Prize. Currently one of the top eleven finalists and in the running to win when the award is announced this September is CRAFT STORE SITCOM: THE PLAY. It is a 6-episode sitcom presented before a live theatre audience. Over the course of two hours, we see store employees navigate 6 crafting holidays and more than a little hijinx. After countless hours performing improv comedy together at The Idiot Box Comedy Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, A.J. Schraeder, Bob Beshere, and Rankin Willard all decided to turn their skills to a slightly more permanent art form. They set out to create a unique live theatre experience that drew on their combined strengths.
