 It appears that The Turns only released one single, I'm not even sure if  they're still going. They have a rich West Coast psychedelic sound,  like Moby Grape meets The Rain Parade. I  finally got around to buying some Mystic Braves material a few weeks  ago and I've already played this 2015 album several times. It's a  psychedelic delight from start to finish, there's not one number here  that I want to skip. Most of the songs are long player material  and drift well over the desired three minutes or less timings of the 45s  I'm more used to playing. That said there are a couple of fast paced  swingers to dig, especially the fuzz and organ garage tripper "Five  Minute Dream Girl"  Pete Molinari is a modern day folk singer. P.F. Sloan style songs  with commercial appeal. Hudson in 1922 **** The Turns are / were a  psychedelic group from Los Angeles. I'm not sure if they're still going,  no updates on their Facebook page for almost two years. Perhaps their last release was the excellent single I have on Hypnotic  Bridge which came out in 2017. The new Creation Factory  single has just been released earlier this month. Both sides are swathed  in hallucinogenic sounds and distorted vocals and are about as tripped  out as they have ever been. Highly recommended, My advice buy while  copies are available.  The Jack Cades is a superb 45, top side "Run Paulie Run"  is especially strong with a riff Ray Davies would have been proud of.  Back in 1964/65 this would have been a hit but times have changed and  it's now up to the devoted sleuths to get thee message out. Hastings  based garage band The Dirty Contacts released this single late last  year on the ever popular State Records label. Both numbers were recorded  live to 8-track at North Down Sound.  It's a noisy affair with fuzz, not a disc to play when your Grandma pops over for a cup of tea and a slice of Battenberg. New disc out now by Thee Girl Fridays on SpinOut Nuggets. Limited to 300  copies. They follow in a long tradition of garage beat groups from  Edinburgh and checking out the back cover credits reveals that Thanes  man Angus McPake produced all three numbers.  Both sides of this 45 were written by Mike Warren, who was a Higher  State member for a couple of years. I assumed the numbers were written  by Marty Ratcliffe!!! I've used the psychedelic "Trip On High" on mix #23 but check out the promo video of "Automatic Motion" cos it's way-out. Plenty to dig on this record. Released 2008.  In years to come this fabulous album by The Higher State may  receive some plaudits as being ahead of it's tyme in a weird kind of  way. The early line-up, may have even been the original line-up.  Recorded between June 2007 and January 2008. Beautiful sounds and the  thick card sleeve and heavy vinyl had not been seen since the late  sixties. 12 string guitars, harmonies and excellent drumming throughout.  Keen purist production too nailing the sound. It may have been darker by the day but it's as intoxicating as a  Summer's night in my mind.  Broken Moons and kaleidoscopic paths featuring: Asteroid No.4, Balduin,  The Fuzztones, Marty Ratcliffe, The Social End Products, Cavemen V, The  Omens and The Youth.  Asteroid No.4 are on a trip to another part of the galaxy with this  single from 2017. "Broken Moon" is a dreamy lament, similar to The Rain  Parade material from the mid eighties. The top side "Ticking Time Bomb"  is a little more heavier with treated vocals, sound FX and added  dreaminess. Marty Ratcliffe went solo with this single from 2010 on Get  Hip Records. It was still a State Production though. A Bert Jansch  number "Fresh As A Sweet Sunday Morning" and (I presume) an original  song "Or Forever (Live Without)" are sparse loner folk.  I've used two numbers from The Cavemanish Boys album. They were a short-lived combo with Gerry Mohr, a former member of The Miracle Workers. “Come On Baby” is a cover version of Al’s Untouchables 1966 legendary garage single. The Frantic V  are another Greek garage band following in the footsteps of The Sound  Explosion with a sound based on fuzz and farfisa. Two numbers from this  2004 LP made it onto Mix #17. Check out opener “Room 409” As far as I know this was the debut single by The Flight Reaction. "Flying Colors" is a psychedelic rocker with sound FX, the other side "A Broken Heart" is an introspective acid ballad. Songs recorded at Dustward, Stockholm in January 2010. Your modern day garage rock collection will most definitely require a copy of "Fiddle While Rome Burned!" EP by Michigan's Fortune & Maltese and the Phabulous Pallbearers.
