    This week Clint and I sat down With Wayne Bailey and Kim Waites. Kim is a Leave No Trace Master Educator, a Wilderness First Responder and has completed courses in the Leopold Land Ethic and earned a certificate in Wilderness Stewardship through the University of Montana’s distance learning program. She currently serves as the Wilderness Stewardship Coordinator for Wild Alabama, formerly Wild South and has held this position for seven years. After Wayne retired from school teaching in 2004, a hiking trip planned for 200-300 miles in 2007 turned into a thru hike of the AT in 2007 completed October 5. This led to a thru hike of the PCT in 2009 and the CDT in 2010. Since 2012 he has remained an active volunteer wilderness ranger for the US Forest Service through training provided by Wild South (now Wild Alabama). He was named volunteer of the year in 2015 for Wild South. They have over 30 rangers and their patrols range from 3-18 miles. Thanks for listening! Liz shares her successful trip with us and we also get a glimpse into what is next for her. Liz is no stranger to the Appalachian Trail or FKT's.     This week Clint and I sat down with Craig Lawson and Brad Cobb. Craig is a Coach with Huck and Braaap Cycling. Brad Cobb is a sponsor and Founder of Motor Mile Racing which are Mountain bike racers from the "Dirty South dippin', divin' and dodgin' all around the world." The 2017 inaugural season of Team HBC consisted of six youth racers. By 2018 the team doubled in size and produced two individual Tennessee NICA State Champions. 2019 season, Team HBC had grown the love of the sport for 30 youth athletes competing all over the state. That season ended on a high note for Team HBC when they were named the number one middle school NICA team in the state and four of their racers were named individual Tennessee NICA State Champions (6th grade girls, 7th grade girls, 7th grade boys and 9th grade boys). The year 2020 presented the dedicated volunteer coaching staff of Team HBC with unique challenges. Like many organizations, Tennessee NICA suspended the entire 2020 season, no race opportunities.     This week we are talking with Michael Wurzel. Michael grew up in Nashville, Tennessee climbing at Kings Bluff and the now defunct Classic Rock Gym. When he turned 16 and bought his first car, you could often find him camping out at Rocktown and Zahnd on the weekends. His early climbing exploits led him to attending Sewanee for college and earning a degree in Environmental Policy. After a few years of being a climbing bum in Chattanooga, Michael earned a Master's in Environmental Science at UTC, and worked as the Executive Director of the Southeastern Climbers Coalition during its 20th Anniversary and beyond. Michael also worked at the Lula Lake Land Trust and the Friends of Moccasin Bend, always embracing the spirit of Chattanooga to make the place better. Eventually, Michael got a job at Summit County Open Space and Trails in Breckenridge, Colorado, and gave up the good life in Chattanooga for the high rockies.
