Good Thursday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. “Nothing to worry about” is the message coming out of the Trump Administration about the Coronavirus, but a new case, not yet tied to travel, may test that theory. Meanwhile the three day dip in the stock market can apparently be chalked up to politics and not infectious disease. You too can own a piece of Big Papi if you participate in his glorified estate tag sale. Another debate for the dems is in the books, and things got spirited down in South Carolina last night, with front runner Bernie Sanders taking the brunt of it. Meanwhile Ash Wednesday is here and Lent has arrived as the revelers were escorted off of Bourbon Street at midnight in New Orleans last night… what are you giving up for lent? Tough day on Wall Street yesterday… it wasn’t quite “Black Monday”, but we will try and put it in historical perspective. While President Trump visits India, the polls in South Carolina may reveal that the Democratic nominee is far from decided. And Boston says farewell to one of our new favorite couples. Meanwhile the people of India are happy to see Donald Trump for some reason. Starting today in the Bay State make sure you put down your smart phones while you drive or you could get popped for it. The Cambridge Police have provided us with some audio to remind you of the new law. And apparently people aren’t as informed as we’d like them to be when it comes to the Presidential candidates. Good Thursday morning from WGBH and the entire Morning Edition team. As this school vacation week winds down, Henry Santoro is back in for Joe Mathieu for a couple of more days. Another debate for the Democrats last night, this time out in Las Vegas, and MA’s own Liz Warren was more aggressive than we’ve been used to seeing, especially when it came to former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg absorbed barbs from all sides, including a few choice words from Bernie Sanders. Should be an interesting race moving forward. Thanks as always for waking up with WGBH Radio.

Big happenings at the WGBH studios last night as the first Senatorial debate between Ed Markey and challenger Joe Kennedy went down right here on Guest Street, and we’ve got all the highlights for you to hear. Revenues at the Encore Casino are down, despite being up at other Massachusetts casinos… maybe that new automated drink service will help. The Boy Scouts of America are in financial trouble, and a murder of winter crows have taken over the City of Lawrence, but that apparently isn’t anything outside of the norm. Democrats are in a holding pattern for results because of some voting tally issues. Meanwhile most of the candidates have already arrived or are en route to the Granite State for the NH Primary next week. Tom Brady fooled most of us with his ‘departure’ photo from last week. And it’s a big day for two reasons around these parts… Caucus day in Iowa, and Red Sox truck day in Boston.
