Sinopse
Vocal injury is not uncommon in the world of singing. This injury is a type of damage that can occur to the vocal cords, which produce sound by either vibrating together or rubbing against each other to create friction that produces the sound. The most common causes are viral infections and vocal abuse (such as shouting).Singers have a higher risk of sustaining a vocal injury because singing is a physical activity that involves the muscles of the vocal cords, mouth, and throat. When they push their voices too far, injury becomes inevitable. There are a number of warning signs that can indicate voice injury. Some people have a hoarse or rough voice or one that is runny, with no obvious cause. Others may notice they are losing their voice quickly and easily. Persistent throat clearing and having to clear your throat often may also be indicators of vocal pathology. If you have any of these symptoms, particularly if you’re a singer, it's important to schedule an appointment with a professional as soon as possible.
