The beginning has begun. Creation is history. God did it! And God has put an image of Himself to rule and enjoy it. "Adam and Eve, you're here! And you're hired!" What a gig! What a grace! All is good in paradise, right? What could go wrong? Well, apparently ... us. Turns out this managerial arrangement will serve as the central point of conflict in the plot of the human story. The humans forget they are an image, not Immanuel. We get too big for our britches. We lead above our paygrade. We mistake having the image of God for having the wisdom and foresight of God. And we seize authority rather than trusting that God's way is the best way. Which begs the question - What is God going to do about it? Will he fire us? Will he give up on the relationship?
