Football Twaddle

During the lockdown, Saru and Baru started a series called Off The Field on the insider app. They spoke to players and administrators in football across India to get a feel for the context in which the game is played. We are now releasing episodes weekly of the conversation. This week we are releasing the show we did with Sourav Das and Asif Khan. Both Sourav and Asif play for Mumbai City FC and have been teammates for some time now. They talk about their diverse experiences, training regime, off the field activities and also the professionalism brought into the game of football through the ISL. We also talk about representing India at the international stage with Sourav. And Asif is one of the first players to come through the academy system at MCFC and shares his experiences of working in the academy.We talk about the difficulties in becoming professional football players in India, various aspects of training and preparation and also the challenges and the rewarding nature of the job.
