The film and this radio show both starred Al Jolson, one of the most famous and highest paid stars of the 1920s. The Jazz Singer signified the end of silent movies as it was the first feature length film to use synchronized recorded sound. The story follows Jackie Rabinowitz, a Jewish boy who runs away from his strict religious father to become a performer.
