Paul uses the language of ‘taking off’ and ‘putting on’ or ‘formerly’ and ‘now’ to illustrate how we are to live our lives since we became followers of Jesus, including instructions for a Christian household living within the new humanity created in Christ (within Paul’s cultural setting).
