He was also the first Australian to defeat Federer in a grand slam match since Pat Rafter in 1999.The tiebreak went back and forth until Millman found a chink in Federer's armour at 8-7 and forced the Swiss great into an error down the line. Federer was forced to sweat as the humid New York conditions and an unusually inconsistent serve took their toll.The two stars continued to trade games into the third set until Federer broke away and finally sealed a break at 4-2.
