In this chapter we see the nations (41:1-8) and their idols (41:22-29) put on trial. Neither has an answer to the God who predicts what will happen and calls for each generation himself. Israel was overwhelmed and helpless before the political turmoil of their time. We, like Israel, are to be confident in the midst of uncertainty because God had promised to be with us and uphold us as we serve him. The Lord of history is the one who will never leave nor forsake us.
