272: How to Replicate Yourself in Your Architecture Firm with Stacy Cox

One of the biggest challenges faced by architecture firm owners is that we feel we do everything so well, we have a hard time delegating these things to other people because they won't be able to do it as well as we can. This is fine if you're a sole practitioner and you want to focus on small projects; however, as your firm grows this becomes problematic. We hamstring ourselves by trying to do too much ourselves and not letting others share in the responsibility. And yet relinquishing control can be hard. It's as much about our mindset, beliefs, and psychology as it is about knowing how to delegate. Wouldn't it be nice if you could literally clone yourself so you could get twice as much, 3x as much, even 100x as much done in one day? Of course, this is possible through what one of my mentors calls succeeding through others. The key to moving from being the architect who does everything yourself to being someone how has others do things for you, is to attract, coach and retain talented people to join your tea
