The National Council of Women Society and its affiliate bodies have called on the public to disregard any rumour or misrepresentation regarding the Imo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law 2021. The NCWS says one of the fallacies and misrepresentations of the law is that it legalizes abortion. The women’s group says the VAPP law which has been domesticated in the state is strictly a legal document that addresses violence against persons for both males and females. They urge the state government to disregard attempts to blackmail the VAPP Law but continue to support it by budgetary allocation towards full enforcement and implementation.
