Early reports on Monday from Benjamin Allbright stated that the Carolina Panthers were trying to shop quarterback Sam Darnold but teams across the league weren't interested in Darnold at his current $18.8 million price tag. Allbright and others later refuted the report as did Panthers GM Scott Fitterer and head coach Matt Rhule. Either way, things are beginning to trend strongly in Baker Mayfield's favor as the Panthers quarterback competition rolls onto the first week of the preseason.
