This weekend Sikhs are celebrating the festival of Vaisakhi. Sikhs celebrate it as the time when the 10th Guru Gobind Singh initiated the Khalsa, considered as the founding of the Sikh religion. However, the festival itself predates Sikhism being celebrated across the Indian sub-continent as the harvest festival.
