钱德半夜惊醒,发现艾迪在偷看他睡觉;他们争吵以后艾迪同意搬走。可是次日艾迪去而复返,把说过的话忘得一干二净,且日日如是。乔伊不愿为五斗米折腰去演一些小角色。但他的豪华新公寓为他(和仗义的罗斯)欠下一屁股债,最后他不得不屈就。钱德送给乔伊“每日一好句”手纸,乔伊从中获益匪浅。莫妮卡和菲比怂恿瑞秋读一本唤醒女性独立意识的书《做自己的主人》,不想这书非但没有让她们从男女关系中挣脱出来,反而大大伤害了姐妹情。乔伊搬回和钱德同住,这样钱德终于不怕艾迪再假装失忆而赖皮不肯搬走了,他终于彻底摆脱了艾迪。1. from square one 白手起家 Joey没了工作但并不太沮丧,他说I'll be alright. I mean it's not like I'm starting from sqare one...I mean that's gotta have some kind of cachet.from square one = from scratch 白手起家,从零开始。而cachet 词根为法语,本意为印章,引申为是优良品质的保证。2. roll with it 随遇而安 对于Joey的失业,他的经纪人说Things change, roll with emRoll with them或者Roll with it 随遇而安吧。跟以前讲过的roll with punches很像。3. suck it up 认命,别抱怨 Joey面临巨额欠款还嫌角色小不愿意接演,Ross说So suck it up man, it's a job, it's money.suck it up 一句很给力的话。“认命吧,忍耐吧,别抱怨”。另外还有一句俚语suck it.虽然意思上也有忍着吧,但这句话内涵比较粗俗,通常用于咒骂对方或发泄情绪。对这句台词印象最深的场景出自后来Friends的衍生剧Joey当中。Joey冒充外籍学生和别人比说英语。当他获得老师的赞赏,骄傲地对大家说:送你们一句美国俚语suck it!4. get some sense 理智一些 Ross在劝说Joey的时候说get some sense. get some sense. 理智一些吧. make sense 有道理,说得通。 5. out of blue 猝不及防,突如其来 听到Chanlder让他搬家,Eddie说it's kinda out of t
