Chris Beesley speaks to Anders Limpar, the man described by Everton’s last trophy-winning manager Joe Royle as “A football genius” and “the most-talented player I ever worked with,” in the latest episode of Goodison Park: My Home. Despite hailing from Solna, on the edge of Sweden’s capital city of Stockholm, Limpar, explains how he was actually a boyhood Blue with his affiliation with Everton going back much longer than his three-year playing stint with the club between 1994-97. The 59-year-old, who had already been a League Championship winner with Arsenal before he came to Merseyside, speaks poignantly about his friendship with the late Kevin Campbell and also recalls the scramble for his signature when his time at Highbury came to an end. Limpar speaks candidly about his part in ‘The Great Escape’ against Wimbledon, the change of manager from Mike Walker to Joe Royle, winning the FA Cup against Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United and his combination both on and off the field with fellow winger Andrei Kanche
