As it gets further into summer and it gets hotter, I look for ways that I might be able to get workouts in cooler times of the day.  Another way to get a reprieve from the heat is to incorporate water into your workouts. Swimming is one of the best exercises that a human being can do but not everyone has a pool big enough to swim laps.  Some people find lap swimming really boring as well.  There are other ways to get a solid, legit workout in a pool.   We have discussed XPT Training before on the podcast.  This is Laird Hamilton and Gabby Reece’ training program that basically mimics their lifestyle.  They use dumbbells in a pool to do some great exercises that really are effective for strength, explosiveness and athletic performance.  Another workout that I have tried recently is Bas Rutten’s Insane Pool workout.  This can be done in a very small pool and will definitely give you a great workout.
