David's prayer in this Psalm is that God would renew a right Spirit within him. He is at the worst moment of his life after he commits adultery and has a man killed. The Holy Spirit is God's way of prompting us in our life. If we can remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit we will repent of our sinful ways and be a witness for him.
