Emergency rooms across the nation are seeing more and more patients, some resulting in death, from street drugs as well as those prescribed. Dr. Gregor Shangold, an emergency room physician in Hartford, CT joins Shattered Lives to explore this crisis, expose some of the myths, and offer evidence based solutions. Not only does opioid use affect the addict and their families, but trickles down into many levels of the community.  Dr. Gregory Shangold is an emergency medicine doctor in Connecticut and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Hartford Hospital and Windham Hospital.  In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Shangold has been involved in organized medicine through many organizations.  He has worked on many important issues facing physicians over the years including ED overcrowding, physician liability issues and other matters affecting physicians and patients.
