Message #380, Matthew 5:31-48, “They Say or God Said?” Sunday, June 30, 2019 We finish out Matthew 5 with an overview of the Sermon on the Mount thus far. We observe Jesus' pattern of correcting what His disciples have heard regarding the Scriptures from the Scribes and Pharisees, with what God originally intended. The goal being the humbling of the listener, to see their need for God rather than futile efforts of self righteousness. The sermon questions this week are: 1) Why is it so important to understand what the Bible teaches in light of the whole Bible? 2) How shall we be perfect, just as our Father in heaven is perfect?
