Debashis Bhattacharya is a portfolio manager in the U.S. Fixed Income and Structured Credit Team of Fortis Investments. He joined Fortis in June 2006. Before joining Fortis, Mr. Bhattacharya worked as a CMO Trader at RBS Greenwich Capital and Barclays Capital. He structured and traded fixed-rate agency and non-agency CMOs. His focus was non-agency CMOs, especially the Alternative-A sector. Between new issue and secondary bonds he traded north of $5bn bonds. Prior to that, he worked at Salomon Brothers/Citigroup in mortgage research. He was responsible for quantitative prepayment modeling and strategy for the adjustable-rate mortgage sector. He also worked on the mortgage index and portfolio analysis. Before that, he worked with Citibank N.A. in Singapore and Bombay in their consumer services group.
