Bowerman's lab, named the Bowerman lab, uses molecular genetics and live cell imaging to study cytoskeletal regulation and function in the early Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) embryo. Studies of C. elegans have revealed breakthroughs in studying aging, cancer, and other phenomena related to cell division. By removing genes, C. elegans have been made to live more than 3x their normal life span.
