Covenant Grace

For a lot of people, Christianity can end up feeling like a bait and switch. This is because lots of churches share the good news of God's unconditional love for sinners who trust in Jesus as the on-boarding message of our faith, but not the on-going message of our faith. When it comes to spiritual growth, it seems that they forget their own roots and begin living as if the gospel that brought them in was only a boost to get them on their way and that now its up to them to produce results. Beloved, this is not true. The God who saves us by his grace is the God who strengthens, empowers, and transforms our hearts by his grace. The path of spiritual progress is not trekked by self-reliance but by God-reliance. It is for this reason that Paul bows his knees before the Father on our behalf. Before he begins to call the church to live out their faith in radical new expressions of God-glorifying obedience (Ch. 4-6), he first calls upon the God who alone is abundantly able to powerfully work within us to bring this
