Luke 9:46-56 - Lessons of Greatness. Jesus used 3 events to teach His disciples the lessons of greatness. 1. V46-48 - How to be the greatest for God. 2. V49 - Exclusivity - God uses people outside of our immediate group for the furthering of His kingdom. 3. V51-53 - Show mercy to others. Jesus told us that in order for us to become great, we must become the servant of others. Jesus came and served us. Look at the cross and see how He came to serve you and me.
