Canterbury residents welcome a proposed new highway - which locals say will save lives.National yesterday promised a four-lane expressway between Christchurch and Ashburton - if it gets elected in September.Ashburton Mayor Neil Brown told Chris Lynch it's one of the most dangerous roads in the country.He says there are deaths happening almost weekly - so they definitely welcome the move.Listen above.
