Kyla Lee is a criminal defence lawyer specializing in impaired-driving cases and is based in Vancouver, BC. She is a passionate advocate of cannabis smokers’ rights and an expert on changes to impaired driving legislation once marijuana is legalized in Canada. She was invited to testify before both the Parliament’s Justice Committee and the Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs against Bill C-46 which contains controversial marijuana-impaired driving provisions and will come into effect post-October 17. Kyla is also the founder of the Canadian Impaired Driving Lawyers Association. Her main concerns with Bill C-46 centred around the proposed testing methods for drug-impaired driving that would require drivers to submit a blood sample, the setting of per se limits on THC in the blood and random traffic stops for drivers. Kyla has studied the science behind blood testing and believes the inherently flawed system will lead to miscarriages of justice.
