Rail and Maritime Union New Zealand has given the Lyttelton Port Company notice that they will strike for 12 days starting this Thursday. The company's attempt to contest the action, via declaring the strike notice invalid, was unsuccessful.Chris Lynch spoke to John Kerr - South Island Organiser for Rail and Maritime Union New Zealand, who says there is a mediation meeting tomorrow which he hopes will result in a deal.
