Sinopse
Chris Lynch spoke to Maria Bradshaw, who believes that over-prescription has taken hold of New Zealand. In 2008 Maria lost her only child to "antidepressant-induced suicide" and she's now on a mission to educate people about this modern epidemic. Maria has helped organise the conference 'Mental Health in Crisis' which is coming to Christchurch next Monday. The conference will investigate the modern "epidemic" that has taken hold in New Zealand and Australia, and present a review of scientific findings that reveal why the adoption of the disease model - and the resulting increase in diagnosis of psychiatric disorders and prescribing of psychiatric drugs - inevitably leads to worsening mental health for a society.
