‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.’ To most of us, the ‘heavenly places’ are Heaven itself, something future. But what Paul is saying, is that God has blessed us NOW with all spiritual blessings – blessings which we should now be enjoying! Because vv11-13 speak of Jesus Christ, ‘in whom we have obtained an inheritance, being pre-destinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His Will, that we should be to the praise of His Glory…in whom you also trusted after you heard of the Truth, the Gospel of your salvation, in whom, after you believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise, the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchased possession…’ This is so interesting.
