In Leviticus 19, the LORD commands his people to "Be holy, for I am holy," and goes on to say, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Having shown us that holiness is the goal of our life with God, and that love is essential to that holiness, the Law demonstrates what love looks like in very practical and accessible terms. It shows what love does when it has the advantage, what love does with conflict, and what love does to provide for the poor. More than three millennia later, these old words still have plenty to teach modern people about love. Rev.
